Does NOT work with Macintosh |

Even though it says it's supposed to... it doesn't work.
Sure... if you stand on one foot during a full moon... you might get an image to broadcast for a couple of seconds before the camera locks Yahoo IM.
I've tried it running both Tiger and Leopard and no joy. Yahoo IM can't even find it on running Leopard. On the computer where I still run Tiger ... the camera locks Yahoo IM.
Worse is Ezonics attitude about Macs ...that they don't intend to support it further.
Which is short.sighted and stupid. The iSight built into new Macs is limited and stupid. You can't move your camera around and the angle the iSight hits your face makes everyone look dreadful. So there's a REAL market need for a good Mac webcam that plays well with Tiger and Leopard.
And since when are frakking commas and hyphens Special Characters.

I hate this product and just like a previous reviewer, it doesnt work with my Mac laptop G4. Worse than not working, customer support gleefully told me that since i could see myself in the webcam monitor s/w, it was an ichat problem. Hey, it may be, but surely Ezonics people have run into this before...hoe about a hint...or a FAQ. It may be Ichat s/w but it sure aint gonna sell IContact Pro's. Too bad, it looked so good! I'd rate this product zero stars but I only had a one star minimum. Oh bu the way, here is a note to the customer support idiot that did not help me, the Mac only had an earphone input so the 2 plug headset you provide will not permit headphone operation! You guys should rename your company Hard-onics!

I just purchased the iContact Pro WebCam and set it up on my Macintosh running OS X 10.4. The camera installed easily and seems to work well with the WebCam Monitor Utility furnished with the software. However, when I try to use it with iChat nothing appears. Opening iChat preferences and the video tab it says that there is no camera installed. The packaging for this product shows that it works with OS X and iChat. I have written an email to tech support but have not yet received a reply. I hope that this cam works with iChat because it seems to be a good product.

Skype vs. iConnect |

The camera works great. I like being able to "look someone in the eyes".
The Skype compatability issue can easy be avoided if you follow this rule: DON'T INSTALL THE SOFTWARE THAT COMES WITH THE CAMERA.
If you have an internet connection your machine should automatically download the Exonics CIF driver from the source. And you're off!

Went to the shareware site mentioned, iChatUSBCam, downloaded the trial and I think it works. That is, iChat now recognizes the cam. Haven't had a chance to try it with another iChat user, but I will, and then update. Of course, paying $10 more for the shareware kind of makes the camera price not such a savings, but I'm committed now, I think. Wish these guys would figure out there are a lot of Mac users looking for an inexpensive camera and support the platform. Oh well...
